Somali Pirates and Islamism

A rather disturbing side-note to the story of Somali pirates is that on the BBC News' website: stories about the pirates, are linked to a larger BBC concern with the "Failed State" of Somalia and the rise of Islamism there.

And along the sidebar, on the right-hand side, are two bigger features.  One is about Somalia as a failed state, the other is about the "Islamists on the Rise."  So, in essence, it appears that the Beeb is attempting to connect the pirates with Islamism in Somalia.  Whether Somalia is a failed state or not is another matter for debate, but to connect pirates with the Islamists in Somalia seems to be rather a stretch.
