Dr Kevin A. O'Brien is the Director of Alesia PSI Consultants Ltd, a small UK-based consultancy specialising in support to government on public security and strategy matters. He has served previously as Deputy Director of the RAND Europe Defence and Security Programme, as Deputy Director of the International Centre for Security Analysis at King's College London, and as the Chief Operations Officer of the Information Assurance Advisory Council. He was previously a Visiting Fellow and part-time Lecturer in the Department of War Studies, King's College London, and Departmental Fellow and Course Director in the Department of Politics, University of Hull. He serves on the Editorial Board of Small Wars and Insurgencies, and has previously worked as a Special Correspondent for Jane's Intelligence Review. The author or co-author of more than sixty monographs, books, and articles, he has written and provided policy and strategy advice to governments on issues relating to the privatisation of military and security functions for more than a decade. His areas of subject-matter-expertise include intelligence, public security and counter-terrorism, counterinsurgency and counterrevolutionary warfare, and African security.
